Gate Interviews

To prepare for your Gate 1 Interview (After you take EDU250 Year 1):

1. You must have passed your ACT/SAT/Praxis Equivalent

2. You must have an overall 3.0 GPA or Higher in your major and education courses

3. You must have earned a B or higher in all Year 1 Education classes

4. Upload 6 course documents into Canvas under Gates and Advising. Note: You do not need to upload your credential file documents.

   1. EDU100 (Resume, Philosophy Assignment, Dispositions Essay, and Field Experience Assignment)

   2. EDU230 (Reflection Essay on the class Objectives)

   3. EDU250 (Ed Theories Assignment)

5. Follow the directions in the PDF here in order to share your e-portfolio with your advisor.

6. Review the Gate 1 interview questions and download your Gate 1 Application in PDF form using Adobe Acrobat or Small PDF Editor. Email the completed form to your advisor.

You will be sent a date/time/zoom link for this interview. Dress professionally and prepare yourself.

To prepare for your Gate 2 Interview (Before you Student Teach):

1. Pass testing requirements (OAE Testing)

2. Overall 3.0 GPA or Higher, B or higher EDA/M250s and 350s

3. Documents uploaded into Gates and Advising into Canvas (EDA/M235, EDA/M250, EDU216, EDU319, EDU329, EDA/M350)

4. Follow the directions in the PDF here in order to share your e-portfolio with your advisor.

5. Review the Gate 2 interview questions, download and complete your Gate 2 application in PDF format using Adobe Acrobat or Small PDF Editor and email it to your advisor.

6. You will be sent a date/time for this interview. Dress professionally and prepare yourself.

Gate III Assessment Program Completion Requirements

Gate 3 Interview is right after you complete student teaching and gets your licensure ready.

1. Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

2. Completion of Student Teaching with B or higher

3. Passing score on EdTPA

4. Successful review/defense of Portfolio
